Overview
Use the online manager to add, move, rename, describe, tag, order, or delete bookmarks and folders. You can drag
favorites to different folders or even drag folders around to rearrange them. You can also move several links at the same time.
Right click on both links and folders for additional
options. Most modifications made here will be reflected in your browser the next time you sync.
Links, Favorites, Bookmarks : Zinkmo supports a number of browsers. We are dedicated to help manage and share the many
sites, called urls (Uniform Resource Locator's) that you visit.
Unfortunately each browser refers to these urls with different names. IE calls them Favorites, Firefox
calls them bookmarks, we think of them as links. To appease all users we use these terms (Links, Favorites, Bookmarks) interchangeably
to refer to the links (urls) that you are working with at Zinkmo.
Note: When right-clicking and dragging make sure to do so from the icon or underlined name as specified below. Some
browsers may perform different actions when clicking on the icon versus the name.
Actions
- To open the page from a link in the online manager – click the underlined name
- To access the Link Editor - Right+Click the underlined name and select Edit
- To delete a link - Right+Click the underlined name and select Delete Link
-
To select multiple links - Ctrl+Click each icon
- then Right+Click a selected icon to delete the selected links
- or drag them all to a different folder to move them
- To re-order links - Drag the underlined name of a link and drop it on another underlined link name. The link will be
rearranged ABOVE the link it was dropped on.
Note: Currently, order is only reflected online via the manager or public folders
Link Editor
After Right+Clicking a link and choosing Edit you will be given a link editor box. The available fields are:
-
Title
This is the name of the link that will appear in your browser. This name must be unique per folder. You are not allowed
to have more than one link in a folder with the same name. Though Firefox allows this, IE does not and Zinkmo
is designed to work across both browsers.
-
Url
The Url the bookmark or favorite references.
-
Tags
Optional words that relate to the link. This information is maintained only online, it will not be synchronized with your browser.
-
Description
Optional description that relates to the link. This information is maintained only online, it will not be synchronized with your browser.
If the folder containing the link is shared, the description is displayed along with the link on the publication page.
-
Start Date and End Date
These are optional, arbitrary dates that can be assigned to a bookmark. They will have no effect on the favorite, are not synchronized to your browser,
but will be displayed if the favorite appears in a shared folder. This feature is used to share sets of bookmarks that are
time specific, such as a list of events.
Some of the changes made in the link editor are only seen with links that reside in public folders. To manage a public folder
we suggest viewing the public folder in one tab of your browser, and the online manager in another tab. Order your links in
the online manager using drag and drop and edit their descriptions and possible dates using the link editor. After the link
has been updated, refresh the other tab showing the public folder to view your changes.
